Windows 10 scales text and other user-interface elements like icons better than Windows 8.1.
Color fidelity is excellent. Toshiba claims that the screen matches 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut, which helps guarantee color accuracy when using photo and video-editing software. Toshiba's Chroma Tune utility lets you pick from a group of set color-calibration settings, including sRGB, manual color tuning, and Technicolor. The Technicolor setting is certified, so your videos should look as accurate as they would in a movie theater with digital projection. If you're a movie buff, you'll see more details in your favorite films, and be assured that the color balance is as the director and the cinematographer intended. Color accuracy can also help in online shopping, so you can tell that a pair of shoes is actually light brown with a touch of red, rather than the dark maroon you'd see on other LCDs.
The keyboard is compact, with keys that are smaller than you'd expect, even on an ultraportable. In particular, the arrow keys and the row of function keys are tiny. At least their backlighting is bright and clear. The one-piece touchpad has a line printed on it to remind you where the left- and right-click zones are, and it's wide enough for multitouch cursor control.
